What is actually in COBO (besides great colombian coffee)? We have tried to create a mix of nootropics and superfoods to enhance your overall wellness and focus. Read a summary about each of the great ingredients below. We have also linked to some interesting studies done for those who’d like to dig even deeper. Please note that we are doing research and testing new formulations of COBO all the time. Therefore the ingredient list is updated from time to time. Just check back here to se the current list.

L-theanine

L-Theanine is one of the main active ingredients found in green tea, alongside caffeine and green tea catechins. It helps promote relaxation without drowsiness. A combination of L-Theanine with caffeine is noted in research to be synergistic in promoting cognition and attention. It is also implicated in reducing the perception of stress and slightly improving attention.

Turmeric extract 95%

Turmeric is a spice well known for its polyphenol compound Curcumin, which gives it the nice yellow color. Turmeric contains around 2-4% Curcumin but we use a 95% Curcumin extract. There is so much to say about this great compound and a lot of research is currently ongoing.

In studies, Curcumin has been shown to exert potent anti-inflammatory effects, and these may be protective against some form of cancer progression based on very preliminary research. Other effects seen in studies are alleviating cognitive decline associated with aging, being heart healthy by both electrical means and reducing lipid and plaque levels in arteries, and both reducing the risk of diabetes and being a good treatment for the side-effects associated with diabetes.

Guarana

Paullinia cupana, better known as Guarana, is a fruit bearing tree. Its seeds are ground into powder and used in traditional Amazonian medicine. Guarana is supplemented primarily for its stimulant properties. It has shown promising results as a mental enhancer in several studies.

Guarana may have additional anticancer effects, but much more research is needed to confirm this effect.

Green Coffee extract

Green Coffee extract is derived from Green Coffee Beans and has a much higher content of molecules known as Chlorogenic Acid. It has been touted as being able to reduce blood sugar levels and potentially exert an anti-diabetic effect. It has also been implicated in weight loss and exerting an anti-obesity effect. In human studies, Chlorogenic Acid has indicated a potential mood enhancing effect that is independent from caffeine. See studies linked below.

Taurine

Taurine exerts most of its benefits vicariously though other compounds in the body, but exerts some of its own on a cellular level. It is being heavily researched as an anti-diabetic compound due to its actions on organs of the body of most concern to diabetics (kidney, eye, nerve health) as well as controlling blood sugar while reducing some forms of insulin resistance.

Cinnamon extract

Cinnamon is a spice that contains several bioactive substances. It is mostly used for its potential blood sugar controlling effects.

DMAE

DMAE is basically a choline molecule with one less methyl group. DMAE has in studies shown the ability to reduce build-up of the age pigmentation called beta-amyloid. It is also the active component of Centrophenoxine or Lucidril, a pharmaceutical used in the treatment of symptoms of senile dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Meclofenoxate, as well as DMAE, have been found to increase the lifespan of mice by 30–50%

Black Pepper

Black Pepper is a source of piperine, a molecule that does not do much on its own but can inhibit enzymes that would attack other molecules. Due to this, it is ingested alongside some supplements to increase their absorption rates and is almost always consumed with curcumin (Turmeric)
